After participating in a comprehensive mentoring program, Resident Educators are expected to successfully complete the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA). The new RESA provides Resident Educators with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to meet or exceed the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
RESA benefits:
In the first two years of the Resident Educator Program, Resident Educators (with the support of mentors) have systematically and continually engaged in inquiry and reflection as they progressed through the Teaching and Learning Cycle. The Ohio RESA gives Resident Educators the opportunity to reflect on their practice and receive objective feedback, based on evidence they have chosen, through the submission of a video of their classroom teaching and written commentary.
This instructional reflection is submitted online and scored by Ohio educators who are trained and certified to objectively assess a teacher’s performance and provide comprehensive feedback.
Resident Educators must be registered to take the RESA and are required to complete and submit their Lesson Reflection by the deadline. After a Resident Educator submits the Lesson Reflection, a well-trained assessor will carefully review the work and provide comprehensive feedback.
